Inclusive Play for Everyone – Move, Play, Thrive!
At Jean Inclusive Wellness, we believe that everyone deserves the joy of play! Our Inclusive Play program is designed to meet the unique needs of each individual, making sports and movement fun, accessible, and empowering for all abilities.
Our Adapted Physical Activity (APA) programs are designed for individuals, including children, with impairments, health challenges, or lower functional capacity that make traditional physical activities difficult.
We offer engaging, interactive, and fun sessions—both virtually and in person—to meet your needs and comfort. Using music, movement, and sports-based activities, we create a motivating and inclusive environment where every participant can thrive.
An adapted physical education teacher is part of the multidisciplinary assessment team whose responsibilities include assessing and identifying an individual’s needs in movement skills.
Adapted physical education teachers provide direct adapted physical education service to individuals, identified through the individual education program (IEP) team process, who need specialized instruction. Appropriate measurable goals and objectives are included in the individual’s IEP.
We offer a complete service that includes observing the student's recess and/ or physical education class, interviewing the physical education teacher and/ or classroom teacher, evaluating the student's academic record, reviewing the student's medical records, assessing the student's gross motor needs, establishing Adapted Physical Education goals, advising the parent's throughout the IEP process, and advocating for the least restrictive environment.
We offer consultation, which may include classroom management in the Adapted Physical Education and Physical Education setting, curriculum planning, and facilities and equipment planning. Consultation services are most often provided to special education teachers, physical education teachers, and parents/ guardians providing physical education to their life-skills classes.
First-year teachers can sometimes feel overwhelmed with the demands of Adapted Physical Education assessments, goal writing, providing and documenting services, classroom management, and the list can go on... Mentoring is a process that can range from a set of structured assistance and support activities to an informal buddy system. This mentorship is designed to answer a new teacher’s questions, provide emotional support, physical activity lesson planning, and fill in the gaps left by university teacher training programs. We will provide an individualized, comprehensive, coherent, and sustained professional development program to train, support, and ultimately retain Newly hired APE Teachers!
